innocent_irony9:09pm: The Calling - 5 May
And it has been brought to my attention that the next Calling falls on El Dia de la Batalla de Puebla - or more simply, the Cinco de Mayo, Freedom Day or whatnot for the Mexicans. Anyway, in support, anyone who come dressed in some form of Mexican goth gets in for free this time round. Should be amusing...

Anyway, The Calling, Cambridge.

psycleslut9:14am: Question for all you creative types
Is there an alternative knitting/sewing circle in Cambridge? A Stitch & Bitch session?

I know there used to be a small gathering at the Zebra but that was many moons ago - did they move elsewhere? And who, if anyone, attends?

Or failing that, does anyone fancy starting up a new one?

(and I know this is a really odd post to make but I'm clinging to the notion that being a Goth negates the 'sad old biddy' side of the question)

Yes, your regular monthly Sacrilege dose is now just a week away! We're celebrating the summer holidays in style with the best Goth, Industrial, Post-Punk and EBM around. :-) We were so impressed with nevla's DJ set back in June that we've asked him to come back for another go, so you really are in for a very special treat. And of course your regular DJs alixandrea and Dvae will also be there keeping the music going right the way through!

9pm-2am

Entry is the usual £4/£3 concessions, but we're also running a promotion! As we now have the lovely Leroy as our security guard, we have been able to relax our door policy. However, to encourage you all to dress up, we are offering £1 Entry for the Fabulous!! Come dressed amazingly, beautifully or just downright awesomely and you get in for JUST £1! Though I must add that £1 entry (or indeed entry whatever you're wearing) is as always based solely on the discretion of whoever is on the door at the time. ;-)

We hope to see lots of you this month; we've missed quite a few of you recently and it'd be awesome to have you back. We have a new group on Facebook; please feel free to join and let us know what you'd like to see more - or less - of at your club. :-)

unwholesome_fen3:16am: Facebook group
Facebook has unilaterally declared the old gothsoc group obsolete, and has not offered us the opportunity to upgrade, following whatever arcane algorithm it uses to decide these things. I've created a new style group from scratch:

http://www.facebook.com/groups/gothsoc

Apparently the old group will remain in 'archived' form - the content will remain, but the membership list is no longer available. So if you were a member of the old group, you won't automatically be added to the new group, and will have to join again. (I added a raft of people from my friends list, but obviously that won't be everyone, and I may have overlooked some.) The new style groups tend to notify all members of everything by default, but you can configure that by going to the group and clicking on the settings button at the top.

alixandrea9:11pm: Sacrilege tomorrow!! :-D
Come and get your regular dose of Goth, Industrial, Post Punk and EBM at Sacrilege tomorrow, Friday 15th July at The Q Club, Cambridge. Our guest DJ is the lovely NoseGirl from The Calling, playing her very last set in Cambridge before heading down to live in London.

To celebrate the fact that DV8 Fest is just around the corner, I will be dedicating both my sets to the myriad excellent bands that will be performing there, while DJ Dvae will be filling in with the very best music you can expect to hear. :-)

We've got ourselves a great new security guard now, so have decided to relax the dress code. As long as you're lovely and not too drunk you can come in no matter what you're wearing. HOWEVER!! We are running a new promotion - £1 Entry for the Fabulous! Come dressed amazingly, beautifully or just downright awesomely and you get in for JUST £1!! Though I must add that £1 entry (or indeed entry whatever you're wearing) is as always based solely on the discretion of whoever is on the door at the time. ;-)

alixandrea12:06pm: One week 'til World Goth Day!!
Are you excited? Here at Sacrilege Towers we most certainly are! Here's what we're up to over the weekend of World Goth Day:

Event No. 1
Our monthly club night is on Friday 20th May at The Q Club on Station Road, Cambridge. As usual it runs from 9pm until 2am and costs just £4 (£3 concessions) to get in.
Flyer hereCollapse )

Event No. 2
On Saturday 21st May we'll be running a live Sacrilege Presents... gig at The Portland Arms on Chesterton Road featuring SpuckTute, Last July and Grooving in Green. Cost for this event is just £5 (£4 concessions). Tickets will be available at Sacrilege the night before, or just pay on the door at the Portland! :-)
Flyer hereCollapse )

Does anyone fancy helping us out on the door at either event (or both!)? The reward is our love forever and free entry; we may even be able to stretch to a drink as well (but remind me I owe you one, because I'll be running about like an idiot and will otherwise forget!) ;-)

We're also looking for a compere for the gig, again in return for free entry! Fancy getting up onstage in front of everyone to announce the bands? Think you're witty enough to give it a go? We'll gladly give you the mik - after all if we can do it, anyone can!! ;-P

Event No. 3
And finally, in our guise as Last July Dvae and I will be hanging out with the cool kids at the World Goth Day Dominion Magazine Show in London on Sunday 22nd May! We're not running this show or performing as a band, but we will have some merchandise up for grabs. Also, I'll be onstage at the end of the night with a bunch of other awesome musicians, singing a very special version of a well known song to celebrate the Goth scene as we know and love it! :-D

Hope to see you all soon!

For those looking for something to go to tonight, you could do much worse than come to Club Incarnate tonight. It's a new Goth/Dark Alternative night held in a converted church in Ipswich and will feature both myself and Dvae as guest DJs, as well as live perfomances from ourselves (with Nevla of course) as Last July, plus Electro-Industrial act Ghost in the Static. The venue is St Nicholas Centre, 4 CUTLER STREET, IPSWICH, IP1 1UQ, the event will run from 7pm until midnight (plenty of time to get home before you turn into a pumpkin!) and tickets are £12.50 on the door.
